Welcome to Beyondthelabel — home of fantastical Fidgetpockets, brother-making magic, and voices that choose their own adventure.
Dear Friends
We are a family of six plus one — each of us with our own unique voice.
Two of our children have nonverbal autism. Yet they still speak. They speak through AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), through body language, through the light in their eyes, through movement, and through a thousand little moments that say more than words ever could.
Communication is one of our very first human experiences — a newborn’s cry, a gaze toward a caregiver, a tiny hand reaching for comfort. As we grow, we are often conditioned to communicate like those around us in order to have our needs met. But some of us communicate in ways that invite others to slow down, learn, and adapt.
And what a gift that is.
It means we all have the chance to expand our understanding of what communication truly is. We believe the more we are exposed to different ways of communicating, the more fluent we become in humanity itself.
This website is our story — one of connection, learning, and breaking the limits of what people think communication “should” look like. Because we’ve learned something powerful: every voice is normal.
We hope you enjoy Fidgetpockets and all the fun our children create with their unique voices. We’re here to offer support and opportunities so your children can do the same, in whatever way they choose.”

Our mission for Beyond the Label is deeply connected to the mission of our nonprofit. The clothing wasn’t just inspired by different forms of communication — it was created through them.

More Choices for Voices
Because every voice matters — no matter how it’s expressed.
This collection represents the beginning of Keagan’s journey, and the beginning of ours as a family learning what communication really means. Kids like Keagan communicate in powerful ways, sometimes nontraditionally, but always with intention, understanding, and heart.
More Choices for Voices is a reminder that when we offer children more tools, more patience, and more belief, they reveal what they’ve known all along: they can communicate, they do understand, and they have so much to contribute.
Someone in our community who communicates through pointing, facial expressions, and hand movements helped guide this clothing line. They didn’t need to explain what they were imagining.
They showed us.
Better Together
Understanding each other makes everything possible.
Once we recognize every child’s voice — spoken or unspoken, traditional or not — something powerful happens: we start to truly connect. Better Together represents the next step in Keagan’s journey and our family’s growth, where compassion becomes connection and connection becomes community.
For Keagan, this understanding has opened a beautiful new door:
the chance to make a friend in her own way.

Because being a brother is something deeper than helping — it’s belonging.
This collection honors the part of our story lived through the eyes of Keagan’s siblings — the quiet strength, the learning, the love, and the understanding that grows in a way only siblings can know.
Being a brother isn’t about being a helper, a caretaker, or a constant problem-solver.
It’s not about stepping in as a provider.
It’s something entirely different — and far more meaningful.
